If the paint is loose with rust under it, it might remove some paint with the rust. Otherwise it shouldn't harm the paint.

Thanks that is what I wanted to know. Wasn't worryed much about the paint but mainly the chrome.

And I need to go pick up a half dozen more....I just paid $2.24 for a quart.<g>

$20/gallon(less HF single item coupon discount) has been my previous 'best price'.

So when I look up the Lowes Evaporust using the link posted I see $8.98 / quart. Four quarts to a gallon and we are talking $32.92 a gallon.

Prices often vary by area. It is possible that they have a store clearancing their stock of Evoporust. When people on another board had posted about a dado set that was selling for $30, some people were reporting finding it or $25, $13, $7. I found it for $43 and $54 locally. Stores or regions must have some ability to control how quickly price adjust down.

Locally, I've found something called Metal Rescue at Menards for $20 or less when on sale. Haven't used it yet, but the description sounds the same.

Ed, I found it at my local lowes for $2.92 Was: $5.84 (Save 50% thru 03/19/2013)
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

None of my local stores carry it.
