This was pretty much my first project as a woodworker, it started off as a recovering of a $75 8' slate table i found in a local add that was in really bad shape. After about 2 months of trying to figure out how to recover the rails and fix it, i just decided to build a entirely new table and just take the slate off the purchased one. all in all it took about 4 months to finish it working mostly on the weekends.

Toys seem to be the thing in my shop now days

Post by charlese »

A couple of weeks ago I showed a pic of little toy cars, but can't find where posted now. So here they are again with the new toy - a Skid Steer loader. Don't know what to do with the loader toy, just wanted to see if I could make the sliding cylinders and other parts.

I see by the latest Wood Magazine, we must get third party verification for any finish we put on toys. I used Mineral oil that came from a pharmacy and was intended for internal use. Put documentation in with the box of small cars sent to charity. We will see if there is any response.

really great looking toys Chuck. Last Christmas I donated 55 toy cars that I made to the Salvation Army and left them unfinished.

That loader is fantastic!! Love the detail. And your fleet sure will make a lot of kids happy. Very generous use of your skills and time.

Chuck I see a potential pinching hazard with that loader if given to a child. Better send it to me so I can properly dispose of it!:) ::D
