At Shopsmith in Dayton this week

Post by everettdavis »

I met with Brooke, Bob Folkerth and was graciously provided a manufacturing plant tour by Jim McCann with lots of photos and information for a Shopsmith book I am researching

I was provided access to archival materials Hans collected and brought over for archival and historical purposes some decades ago.

I am in the process of scanning them and will return them when I finish later this week

I cannot thank the folks enough for their courtesy and kindness.

I am looking forward to putting that collection together and sharing it with you when I get back home to Texas.

I will give you a sample photo of something Hans brought them decades ago to preserve. No, not all the photos in the manuals but some real nice 8 x 10 glossy black and white photos were in the mix. I am scanning away, but it is slow going.

Here is one sample.... Sand cast greenie with the old anti rattle / lock mechanism on the speed dial.... Yes John there iss 10ER stuff, Yes JPG there is Mark VII stuff ....

Everett,
Did you feel like the kid in the candy store? :D Can hardly wait to see more.

The folks at Shopsmith obviously know your work to preserve the history and information about all things Shopsmith and wish to see more as much as we do.

That is a great clear picture even if it does look much like he is about to drill a hole to put a pin in his index finger... :D

I will be anxiously watching for more. I hope you are enjoying this as much as we are. :)

Everett,
Thanks for the great picture! Like a kid, I can't wait for your book. Can I pre-order before you start writing? What an outstanding idea. Good Luck and Best Wishes on your endeavor!

I guess it takes about twice the speed to drill through a finger than it does for wood. Having ShopSmith upright on the speed dial makes the picture look good though.
