Jointer manual?

Post by rmojo »

I just purchased a used jointer 505681-b. It looks very similar to a 4e manual I found online:
http://www.ssug.org/index.php/document- ... model-4e/0

Does anyone know if the manual for the 505681-b should be purchased or will this one work?

I cannot open the url you provided for the 4e. so cannot comment on if it will "work". Maybe same as this next note?

A manual for the earlier version (Magna Engineering) of your jointer can be seen/downloaded here:
http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/338/2692.pdf

Shopsmith themselves provide a free parts diagram and list for today's version here:
http://www.shopsmith.com/service/jointer/index.htm

Keep in mind that operations as described in the Magna manual may not meet today's view of what is safe......be careful with old docs.

My recommendation is to buy the manual from Shopsmith and increase the likelihood you won't need toes to count to ten.

Hope this is helpful, though I know it does not directly answer your question.
