Since I've been having more indoors shop time this year I've found times I wish I had better lighting for some operations. The shop is quite well lit with 32 W T8 white bulbs, 22 total in 11 fixtures. But there are shadows and then there are places where things fall that the lights never shine.
I have a couple of extra lamps, either ones for this tool or that or ones I have adopted and adapted. Still felt I could use a more general source and something that I can just grab and use.
Found one at Lee Valley:

Now that I have it in hand I'm pretty sure I could use one in the van, in the computer room, utility room, and countless other places. But I'll wait until I have had it a while to see if I want to make some more purchases this year.
I shot a few of pictures to share with you.
The lamp is reasonably light with a nice strong magnet on the bottom so say you want to stick it on the 520 rip fence, drilling, setting up for a rip, you name it and the light is there for you. It runs on three AA batteries so no cords to have to worry about getting tangled or cut off...

To do this is quite simple. One of those t-track parts in the t-track and put where you want it.

Pop the base over and it is not going anywhere. You need to remove the lamp before it will move.

Here I turn the rip fence on its head, the lamp is still no where near moving.

So if you have a t-track or anything metal to attach it to you are good to go.
More to come.

These next photos show the shop with normal lighting on. You can see how much more light is from the work light. The first picture is maximum spread.

The beam can be adjusted any where down to this

Here I parked on the strip sander to better see how my fine tuning was doing.

Last but not least there is a shot of it sticking to the CI top of the bandsaw. Much easier to see your setup this way. If you want to use the bandsaw you might need to add a metal washer some where on the plastic housing for the lamp to mount to.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago. Great! Now I can see what I've been missing. I bought an extra plate to attach somewhere but haven't needed it yet. Hadn't thought of Ed's method of attaching it to t-slots.
The other good thing, as Ed pointed out , no wires so it is easily portable. I used it to see inside my headstock for maintenance and for checking out my sump pump pit to make sure everything is ok for spring thaw, under the workbench to spot all the small items that found their way there, etc.
