Ok let me back up a little. The pieces on the right are ripped as a full half circle. The pieces on the left are the thickness of the saw blade smaller and are the scrap hence the nails through the face..jpg

Pictures will not show up now when I try to load them. Only a green icon that goes nowhere. Did I break the forum?

I think the photo display problem is a bug. I put a post up to alert admin.

This church was built in the late 1800's in just 365 days. If you are ever in St Augustine Florida be sure to take the tour of this and Flagler College. The wood working will inspire and humble the best craftsmen of our day!

I like to square my tool rest up to the work piece. It gives me a visual reference and helps me keep the work piece true..jpg (455.92 KiB) Viewed 71749 times

Okay back to the task! ;)

This is where the geometry gets a little whacky. Both pieces were routed on the same bit and against the bearing. This is the result when trying to join them on a 45 degree angle..jpg

Don't worry I will fix it and it will actually work better for what I am making. :)

The answer is to square off the miters and add to the half circle. (1024x768).jpg
