Re: Shopsmith purchasing advice
My experience in lathe turning the most used tools are lathe, drill press and band saw. In DIY home repair the most used tools are 90% powered hand tools. In craftsman style woodworking Tablesaw, hand tools, router, bandsaw A tablesaw is nice but requires a huge amount of space both for the saw but ...

Re: Main Table Stability....in Saw Table and Drill Press Modes
Fact a standalone tablesaw has absolutely no table movement. The fact that the SS does whether .001 or 1/4 inch is a problem. Fact once aligned most table saws can not be bumped out of alinement. Fact the SS can be bumped out whether it is .001 or 1/4 is a problem. Now how serious of a problem it is...

Re: The Shopsmith X-6000 prototype
Hey if you are going to dream, dream about a multifunction machine that has a tilting arbor.
That function alone is probably the biggest complaint about the SS.
Think about a variable height, variable speed, tilting arbor machine with total dust collection.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner
Who has $6,000 to spend on a new Shopsmith? Lots of people. Yes, lots don't and thank god there are wonderful Mark V 510/520 machines out there used for very affordable prices. But many people spend $6,000 and much more on yearly vacations, boats, cabins, hunting trips, cars, horses, sports cars, p...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner
RF guy makes a good point between pro and home hobbyist. But I think most home hobbyist always have a dream, maybe in the back of their minds, to quite their job and make a living off their hobby. Technology is evolving, today they are actual building houses using material printers, I have seen work...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner
I think Buckeye Dennis has hit the nail. Today people do not think of woodworking but rather as makers using technology to create and execute their work. Fewer and fewer YouTube makers are using woodworking tools to create. Instead of saws and jointers they are using CNC, Lasers, plasma cutters, wat...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner
I question the actual market, is there really enough young woodworkers willing to spend nearly $5000 dollars for their hobby. If my family which has woodworkers/DIY'er in its background is any valid comparison, I do not think so. Today’s kids are fighting to afford their own housing, food, gas and o...

Thank goodness! Maybe he will bring prices to realistic levels and sale a ton of new Shopsmith’s.
I always believed there was a huge untapped market that was priced out of the market.
Welcome to the new owner!

Re: Woodpeckers Tool - Factory Tour on Youtube
Great tour! Thank you for telling us about it. I did not know Woodpecker was connected to Blue Spruce. If I was thirty years younger and a millionaire I would own at least one of every tool they make. I love to look hold and use precision tools and this floats my boat. Thanks again for letting us kn...

Re: Latest My Growth Rings installment
If you have problems with the five-point safety check. I highly recommend that you watch TV. You do not belong in a wood/machine shop at all. They are inherently hazardous. Just another opinion. Who said I had a problem with the five point check. I said most beginners do not know it. That makes the...
