I like mine. I did try mounting the brackets with magnets directly to the back of a storage cabinet but discovered that the mounting board also acts as a spacer so that the top hooks will hold 4 alignment tubes. without that board, it only holds 2 tubes. fortunately, I notched the magnet cups before...

IIRC, when this happened a few months ago, they had a database problem that took them a while to fix. my impression at the time when it came back up was that the problem had used a lot of bandwidth and their account has a monthly cap, but that is just my interpretation/speculation.

Q: Has anyone here ever made a really good homemade chisel, suitable for turning bowls? first, if your bench chisel is a socket headed handle, don't even consider it. as for making tools, the Turning 101 course at the local Woodcraft has everyone make a scraper. we turned and drilled the handle on ...

I need to pick a glue. I be thinking either titebond II or thin CA. Thin as in 'runny', not this gel crap. in a recent workshop here (I think that it was David Ellsworth), the guest turner reported that some of their older museum-level pieces had partially fallen apart because some of the CA joints...

you should double-check the safe spacing for your grill. IIRC, mine wants a couple of feet from any flammable wall. we have had some apartment fires around here from people BBQing on the balcony and catching the siding afire. at least one of them thought that aluminum was non-flammable although most...

What do you pay for a dock fee, how much gas do you go through in a day etc around here some marinas still charge by the length of the boat while most seem to have gone to charging by the beam (max width). gas usage is commonly in the gallons/hr range. larger boats can get into the 10s of gal/hr. i...

This type of chuck uses an adapter to go from the shopsmith shaft size to the chuck size, this portion is threaded and this is the interface where the indexing wheel is captured. some things are just so obvious when explained, but can be bewildering until then. in other words: doh! <sound of forehe...

following the natural progression for these lately would make the next one the annual pot pourri.

may i be the first to suggest that that would be going too far.

of course, I'm the one who wasn't lazy enough to be a good mathematician:rolleyes:

Ed, definitely very nice work. the second pic looks like there is a label on the disc. how about more info on the disk, the chuck adapter, and the indexing disc attachment? hmm, better add brand and model of chuck to that list of questions, too, I guess. with all the sales going on this weekend, it ...

additional vote for the chainsaw. a good sharp chainsaw can leave a remarkably smooth crosscut surface. I am told that there are a few woods that are less likely to split than others when cut like this, but I haven't used any of them yet. Anchor Seal 2 is a good product to reduce splitting while you...
