setting it aside for now

Charlese, No, did not clean the bearing. The old grease showed no signs of metal and the needle bearings appeared in good shape, so I just slabbed a finger-full of bearing grease in it and put it back on the shaft. It turns real smooth now. JPG, as for the lower, it seems to be in excellent conditio...

Thank you for your support

in all its forms, especially those (Dusty and JPG) who have offered the kind of generosity I suspect is a common thread amongst woodworkers. Band Saw Questions from Newbie

As the brand new owner of Mark V sn292284, built March 1955, I am trying to give it the respect (and attention) it deserves. And while I have been reading thru the posts to the forum nightly and learning much, it seems I can't find the answers I need (although I'm sure they're in there somewhere.) I...

another idea to eliminate the "ring of death"

As I'm reading thru this thread, being a poor woodturner who must make do with homemade rigs to substitute for the expensive lathe accessories I lust for, I had the thought that the material is sufficiently thick (strong) enough and you have a great machine for boring, so why not drill into the loos...
