Re: From brown to green

I do not think it is a matter of draining them as it is not continuing to top them off. In Huntington Beach we are allowed to add no more than 1 foot at a time to the pool. The "rules" are ever changing as water districts jockey for position. Neighbors down the street are today...

Re: 8" Dado blade

All good advice!

Follow Dusty and be sure that YOUR 8" dado set is rated for the rpm you use for your cut.

Re: 8" Dado blade

Keep in mind that the teeth ft/sec will be about ⅓ faster with the 8" blade than with the 6" blade.

You might want to drop the speed down, or be sure that the 8" blade is designed for that ft/sec speed.

Re: Happy Birthday, Forrest

I really do appreciate the 'Happy Birthday" greetings! As we age and see/help our close friends through very troubled times, it is uplifting to realize that folks you have never met are aware of your place in this life. Thank you, and may God bless you all!

Re: Slot Mortising Feed Direction?

The drawings are excellent in helping us all to understand what's going on. Thanks! :) My Porter Cable router must be for us old folks that forget things now and then: the base has a little arrow on it showing me which way the bit moves. :D I plan to make a big arrow on the top of my router table fo...

Router Quick-change Collet

Chris's thread on buying his router reminded me to ask a question: Has anyone tried to use a quick-change collet as shown on FWW site http://www.finewoodworking.com/tool-guide/video/quick-change-collets-make-routing-easier.aspx ? Amazon has a ½" one for Porter Cale routers at $70. If I did a lo...

Re: How to Install Hinges in Old, Hard Doors

If you are using brass screws in hardwood you need to drill the pilot hole, then use a steel screw of the same size to 'tap' the hole and reduce the effort on the brass screws. If you are installing in very soft wood, do the same but before installing the brass screw put a couple of drops of Super G...

Where is the forum server?

On my mobile (well, smartyphone) the time was given as 9:36pm, but here in water-free CA, it is 6:36pm. I thought SS was in Ohio but is the server on East coast?
