That's a very good idea! I have just struggled re-aligning manually. :o Toilet paper rolls work well. Some paper towel rolls do too. However, I just unlock the wedges completely. These forces then to opposite ends of the rod and keeps them out of the way. Just align them and reinstall the headstock.

I started with CPM and later migrated to Windows so that I could have more that 6meg of memory. I have used Windows ever since.

Some people don't like Shopsmith either.

There has certainly been a lot of discussion for a "cosmetic" problem. Has anyone asked if it is possible that the holes are in the wrong location. Were these holes drilled as part of the DIY upgrade.

I am totally unable to analyze any of what I have been viewing here. I am too new to the forum and too new to woodworking. I don't even own a table saw or a Mark 5.
