Just bite the bullet and get them from shopsmith. They are really the same price as on ebay and you are sure to get the right thing. Once you have some time with the machine you can be more comfortable buying used stuff. I got great used deals once I knew what to look for, but if I tried that in my ...

I used to love Tommy. That was when he did Major League Woodworking. He built a highboy desk and it was amazing. He had a great personality and was a real person during the construction. I can't even watch him now. Just doesn't seem real. They lost all of what made me watch him in the first place. A...

Call these people. They are great. Describe your situation and typical material thickness and they will send you the right blade. You need 3 teeth in the material usually so the thinner the material, the higher the tpi. I can't remember what I got from them (not home to count) but I've been very hap...

The hardest part of making these work is making sure the bottom is really flat. The rest is fixable. But if you are new to planes, a transitional is very frustrating, especially over 9 inches for the average guy. Make sure the bottom is flat. More often than not, the wood is warped and you will need...

After countless cuts with the machine set up for metal, the issues of chips in the tires are really not that dramatic of a concern. Use the machine, followed by a brass brush on the tires and a shopvacing and they are good to go. Blade tracks fine when a wood blade has been put back on.

Check the link Peter posted. There is an FPM chart which gives the specifics for various metals.

I had the reverse experience with water based contact cement. Now I only use the one in the red can. Wear gloves and apply. Bonds forever, especially on veneer. For some commercial applications, where a call back is not an option, the enviro friendly stuff just doesn't cut it, at least for me.

Here's the speeds and feeds you need to use. Also get a good bi-metal blade. I don't use a cover of any type and it's in regular use for metal at the moment. I use lube, like either a drip of 3 in one or simply spray wd40 or equivalent straight on the blade as I'm using it. Put a magnet under the ta...

Customer service has even called me back by using their caller Id. I was amazed that after a call dropped, my phone rang and there she was. It was shocking to me that they went that far. No one else even seems to try.
