I have a 1977 vintage Mark 5 which was used quite a bit by my father before he passed it along to me. It still runs great. The miter gage was a bit sloppy in the right side miter slot so, as an experiment, I put a strip of aluminum tape down both sides of the miter gage rail which added about 0.008&...

I have the opportunity to buy a used shopsmith planer for my Mark V. I have not seen it yet and I was wondering if anyone could suggest specific things to look for and/or checkout prior to buying. I don't think I will be able to see it in operation so I really need to know what to look for. Any help...

Yet Another Arbor Question
I have a hand-me-down ShopSmith Mark V that was purchased in 1977 by my father. The original bill of sale lists a '5/8" Universal Arbor' part number 505506. This is the arbor that my father used for all of his saw blades and for the dado set he had. When I look this part number up on shopsmith....
