I don't remember seeing his name or photo before. I'm pretty sure I've seen all of the videos online and read everything about shopsmith that I could get my hands on. Perhaps he is just "new" to me. How long has been with SS? If anybody knows?

I'm tempted to order that sanding disks just see if it really works. I just found the email ad a few minutes ago.

My next question is, who is Jim McCann, the new ShopSmith resident woodworking expert?

What will your project be when you finish? A hutch or secretary's desk?

Nice use of the recycle wood, btw.

I've taken two courses in turning at the local community college. Well worth the price to have an instructor who is a professional turner outside the college. BTW, just a quick promo for my college. Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA has one of the best woodworking programs around. The prices are more ...

I had three years of woodshop in high school. Not because I wanted to go that direction with my career. I just enjoyed it and making presents for my family. Up until a few years ago, I didn't have anything that I made in school. In the last few years, my relatives have been giving back to me some of...

About 1983-4. The Navy realized they'd never actually tested the supercarriers to see just how well they would survive torpedo and bomb explosions. So my bird-farm was selected (CV-67). We spend months getting ready. Things like desks and file cabinets and tool boxes and such weren't of concern, so...

I don't know of any wood working related requirements for a 1 1/4" arbor. In fact, the only advantage of having 1 1/4" arbors is that you can use saw blades purchased from Shopsmith that have the 1 1/4" hole. I don't believe Shopsmith even offers a 10" blade with a 5/8" arb...
