Have piles of clamps including some the prior model K type (orange color). I recall they were pricey at the time yet I gravitate to using them more than others. Very pleased. Speaking of case clamps, I have some antiquers, cast iron, operate by slip and clamp type. They fit 2 x 2 x any length wood t...

I bend thin MDF by kerfing the back and use steam. For applications where it must retain some rigidity, I prefer it over the bendable plywood. Easy, fairly quick to shape and form. Seems very stable even for changing environments like in a car. I needed to replicate the exact pattern of an original ...

This is an old site but great source for one getting started. Introduction to Woodturning Also, I suggest searching youtube for lathe turning and you have a 24/7 shop class instruction. Vids range from a waste to advanced but surely have visuals that are easy to relate. So many facets to the hobby b...

Looks clean and as long as it works good, how can one go wrong for $100 ? I think you answered your question, not able to find a SS locally for less and most of the accessories interchange. Where's a lathe, plastic table saw, drill press for that dough?

I don't have the SS planer but guessing my 13" Delta is close enough. Generally I can hear slight differences between hard and soft species and depending on the speed. To me, the hardwoods do indeed resonate louder. Are you feeding primarily with the grain or against it? Also, I prefer to run o...

If you're one not wearing ear protection and want to reduce the bandsaw noise, use what car audio builders install on the door insides, something like Dynamat and apply to the SS plastic cover.

Use a live Steb center (sometimes called spur). Another use for offset turning is for cabriole legs.

I think the demo at Lowes in Kenosha, WI might have passed but sales tax was 5.5%. Significant less than the 9% for a not too far distance drive (just over the border). Regardless, why not just order at a Lowe's outside the state of IL and Cook county, have it shipped in to that store and pick it up?

While this is in my general area I've already seen the demo and have no funds left this year for any more tool purchases so I'm going to pass on this one. BTW I think part of Northbrook is in Cook County, they have a 9% sales tax in Cook County. I don't know how they work the sales tax at these dem...

Rarely use them on the smaller table saws. I heed caution ALL the time but then again have been around this stuff for 30 years. Know your machine and double check your fence alignment / clamp, the stock being cut, proper technique. Not to rip (pun) anyone but have witnessed some bad operators in cab...
