Shhhh, I've been drooling for days. It's the same guy with a 510 shorty under a 100 last time I checked and the interesting Drill press mod JPG posted about.

You guys are looking at this all wrong. organizing your shop is not a project it's an excuse! "Sorry honey i'd love to go shopping for clothes with you and your mom but I'm organizing the shop." "I've got to get that extra 520 dear, it will help me with organizing the shop." it's...

Ash is a ring porous wood so I'd steer clear. It's more likely to absorb liquids and food particles.

My standalone bandsaw has a lever to release the tension. I try to do it every time. Of course you have to remember to put it back under tension

Misc. Hardware in the shop.

I'm trying to get the shop cleaned up and reorganized. I've got more loose hardware than I know what to do with. Chris, I've been making the debate on whether to upgrade from a 510 to a 520 for ages. if thats what you've done, I'd love to hear your impressions of the one vs the other. Especially after you've used it for a bit.

I sort of feel like this argument/discussion isn't going anywhere because it's so a broad and nonspecific. How the saw is being used, operator skill and experience, the material, all these things play into the issue. We'd probably need 20 threads to cover all the situations. I worked for a while in ...

This gentleman wrote a whole series of articles on converting a shopsmith to a machine shop tool. I didn't read the whole series of articles so I can't comment on how difficult or expensive it would be. Looks like you can order reprints of the articles.
