Re: Shelf addition
I'd use contact cement to glue a piece of veneer to the back of the cabinet to hide the cutouts. It would go a long way to keep the piece from shouting "I'm an old TV cabinet!"

Re: Machine Height
Something like this might be a) a bit lower profile and b) only requires two levers to push to change from stationary to mobile mode, instead of 4.

Re: roll top desk canvas
All of the fabric I've seen on rolltops or organ keyboard covers is not canvas, but a quite thin linen. I assume this is done to keep the fabric from interfering with the operation of the cover, but I've always been surprised to not see these tops falling apart with age, even with those getting well...

Re: Caster upgrade
The caster upgrade includes only the casters themselves, instructions, and a drilling template. Your existing raise/lower mechanism will remain the same, and so the three positions, raised, middle, and full down won't change either. What DOES change is that because the wheels are larger, the mechani...

Re: Any circular saw especially good for the True-Trac system?
Since the Tru-Trac was purchased primarily to save money over buying a track saw, I simply used the circular saw I had on hand...a thirty year old Sears Craftsman. Put a new blade on it, and it works great.

Re: Boat Building
Marine plywood is a very friendly material, especially for novice boatbuilders. Do some research into the so-called "stitch and glue" method of building.
I have a stitch and glue kayak that's very attractive. It was built from a kit by Chesapeake Light Craft, http://clcboats.com

Re: SS 510 Question
You should not have to check the fence to blade alignment every time you use the machine. The fences are quite reliable, whether we're talking about the original Model 500, 510, or 520.

Well, yeah, but I don't normally stabilize wood with that. In fact, it makes me UNstable.

Re: weight of old bandsaw vs new
I haven't weighed it, but my impression is that my bandsaw is heavier now that I switched out the old cast iron table for the bigger aluminum one and added the Kreg fence system to it.
