I've done metal work for years, and trust me center to center is standard for metal, too. Of course, angry, ignorant people are pretty common, too. Forget him.

I had a 50 horsepower feed grinder motor that kept cutting itself off. An electrician told me it was burned up and would need rewinding. I took it apart and cleaned the ground up feed dust out. It lasted 10 years after that. I ALWAYS clean my motors.Hahaha

You know, when I got it, the whole thing was dusty but the inside of the head unit was almost perfectly clean.

I emailed Shopsmith with this question regarding the age of my machine (and which manual to buy), and never got an answer. Is this the usual for them, or was I just unlucky?

Shopsmith bandsaw

Thanks for the help guys. I guess I'll start looking for a Shopsmith. Are the old ones good? Is the aluminum table much larger/better than the old cast iron?

Shopsmith Bandsaw

I'm thinking of getting a bandsaw, and I have a few questions. First should I get one for my Shopsmith 500? Or, should I buy a stand-alone from another company? Also, if I buy a Shopsmith, are used ones a dangerous buy, or are repairs fairly inexpensive? Any advice?

Thanks guys. Only free thing my brother-in-law ever gave me. Of course he never used it, so he's no help. Here are some pics.

Ignorant Newbie needs help

I looked at the serial number page on the Shopsmith website, but am still too stupid to figure out what year my Mark V was made in. It was given to me today without any owners manual, and I'm not even sure which one to order. The Model # is 500009-B, and the serial number is 031990. Is that a date c...
