Band saw maintenance
I purchased my bandsaw several years ago and I haven't used it much. I recently cut out some 2" corbals and I remembered that it has a high pitched squeak intermittently. Yesterday I dug out the book and went through the maintenance section. I pulled the top pulley and relubed the bearings and ...

Re: Decisions
Okay, you guys nailed me. Truth is my machine is running just fine. I really don't need a rebuild. I have had every part out of it and replaced all the bad stuff. I am sure the pros would find something wrong but it runs smooth and quiet so I am good. I think eventually I will buy a Power Pro upgrad...

Decisions
Okay I probably need to start thinking about what to do long term. I have a mid 80s 510 that I have owned about 5 years. I have upgraded to a double bearing quill and serviced everything to the best of my ability. I am thinking at some point I would like to have Jacobs or Shopsmith go through the un...

Speed control alignment
Hi folks, I thought I had a stripped speed control but upon inspection I think the set screw was not going far enough into the shaft. I purchased a longer allen screw and it is tightening up now but the speed control handle is a bit askew. I am not sure what to to. Probably nothing but my German her...

Re: SS Jointer
Doug Reid has a great video on the use of jointers. His opinion is a 4" jointer is all you need. I am sure there are lots of opinions but I am also sure he is a better woodworker than I. Watch the video.

I have a Craftsman 113.xxx in the garage that I use with a Dubby sled. I have to move 2 motorcycles and an mgb to get set up but if I am doing a lot of work I use it. It has a big table and I have rebuilt every part on it. I don't have a great fence for it so that is on my list. That being said the ...
