Re: Mark 7 110 vs 220 performance?
I would assume that using 220v would increase the life of the motor and electronics. The current draw is reduced by increasing the voltage when doing the same work. P=V*I. The power lost to heat is (I^2) * R so theres less heat with higher voltage. Electronics and motor winding insulation last longe...

Re: Bandsaw bronze bushing replacement
An update on this. I purchased 3 spare rollers from ebay and purchased 3 styles of bronze bushings from McMaster Carr. So a total of 9 bushings . The prices vatied from 0.83 to 1.15 per bearing, so 9 bushings ran me $14 with S&H +tax. My worn out bushing pressed out with no issues. I hammered it...

Re: RE: Re: Bandsaw Bearing Upgrade Problem
I agree. My phrasing isn't clear. Removing them was meant as a troubleshooting step. If they're not set properly, they could be pushing the blade inward and creating the alignment issue he encountered.

Re: Bandsaw Bearing Upgrade Problem
I've not upgraded to ball bearings. You could try removing the guide blocks to see where the blade wants to naturally ride. I did some filing on the oblong bolt hole of the lower guide assembly to center the blade on my lower roller. The casting isn't very beefy so I removed as little as possible to...

Re: Hand plane education
I went with 2 basic new planes, a #4 Buck Bros bench plane from HD and a Stanley 12-920 block plane. Both are my first planes. They both cut ok out of the box but clearly needed serious tuning. The block plane wouldn't cut evenly and the bench plane chip breaker was always clogging up. The block nee...

Re: W E N tools
They make their tools in China at factories that slap different brand name stickers on the same equipment with minor changes. A lot of their stuff has Craftsman and Rikon clones so I expect the same quality as those names. I bought their shop air cleaner off Amazon and have no issues. I'd buy them a...

Re: New to woodworking- possible purchase
I've ripped 8/4 oak in a single cut on my mk5 510 table saw without problems. 1 1/8 hp motor. Slow feed, sharp blade. I can't speak to other wood types. You could make the 2" cut in several passes on the TS or use a bandsaw with a larger resaw blade if you find power is an issue. You'll need an...

Re: Hello!! And Help!!!
As the other Ed just pointed out, the power equation P=IV shows the current increase directly. I should have grabbed that one. Been out of the classroom too long. A variac is essentially an adjustable transformer, so I think Ohms law would have to be written differently to account for there being tw...
