Re: Opinion on use of JessEm Stock Guides on SS

I made a similar jig for my router table JessEm stock guides. I couldn't see paying another $250 for the table saw version when I can share the one I have for the router table. The downside is the wheels don't extend out as far for the router table guides but like you I also have the board buddies w...

Re: PowerPro Woes...

I think most of the problems stem from Shopsmith refusing to carry any PowerPro parts inventory. Everytime they get a order or someone has a PP problem things have to go through New Zealand.

Re: SS keyless chuck

I bought one earlier this year and returned it. The runout measured over 10 thousands, its big and heavy with no redeeming values as far as I am concerned. One of the worst things Shopsmith has come up with. Wow. 10 thou is absolutely unacceptable, imho. Were you able to confirm the problem was act...

Re: Horizontal Routing Advice

It seems the joint tech has a sibling! I agree with Buckeye on all counts. Implied but not mentioned is the effect vertical movement of the workpiece has on the result. When 'trapped'(between the cutter and the table) the cutter will gouge. When 'free' above, a high spot is created that can be remo...

Re: Horizontal Routing Advice

I have cut many tenons that way and it works fine. Just do not take a deep cut. However, it seems that you are talking about cutting stiles and rails for a raised panel door. Quite a different game. I can just see the work piece as it goes flying across the shop when you loose control and the cutte...

Horizontal Routing Advice

After upgrading to a PowerPro I a have been wanting to try out a new vertical raised panel bit (http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/raised_panel_router_bits2.html) with the shopsmith set up in the horizontal position. I looked at the the Shopsmith Power Tool Workwor...

Re: Safe-t / rotary planer

I have found this to be a better option if you have a PowerPro or Speed Increaser.

Re: Tech Shop

I have checked the one out we have here locally. Very well equipped and the price I think is fair. If I did not have the space for a shop at home it would be a no brainer, but the convenience of walking a few steps instead of fighting traffic, finding a parking place and pre-scheduling your time on ...

Re: For you digital gauge guys

I have used this for some time to tram my milling machine. Works great and you could probably build one with a couple of inexpensive indicators.
