My favorite picture
My wallpaper is a bit more personalized. It is one of my favorite pictures of my two younger daughters. It was taken at night after a football game (the younger one is a bandie) so all my icons are easy to see on the screen. They live about 100 miles away and I don't get to se...

get it before the price drops further
Here's one in my neck of the woods that has been reposted: http://fayar.craigslist.org/tls/3614147143.html At least the poster is right in his description. It is a Shopsmith, albeit it is an old 10ER. And he posted five pics, although I'm not sure they really help evaluate the item. It originally po...

Again?
This seems to be a recurring theme with older machines that haven't been used recently. You might try the search link on the forum as I know I've read about this more than once. Usually it turns out to be a problem with corrosion (rust) or spalling (is that the right term for scratched up metal shav...

I love it!!
Dang, funniest thing I've read today. Gotta love the learning curve. But I really do appreciate the honesty, sarcasm and enthusiasm. Stick with it, and we'll all get thru this together!

Almost missed seeing the SS in video
Was watching old youtube vids on cabinetmaking. Was about to skip thru the part in this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMPcBpe6Mjs where they are covering table saw safety and usage when the table caught my eye. That aint no ordinary table saw, it's a 510!!! Starts at about 7:40 on the video. I...

new stuff
I might have to go check this out. I don't have a "wood lay" or a "wood planner." I'm not sure what they even are, but I MUST have every tool made!
Sad to say, but a beef cow probably is worth more than a used SS.

glad you posted
Well, glad to see someone step up and come out of the shadows. As for the fences, if the tables are different, the fences won't interchange. No biggie. Lots of fences on evil-bay and there are probably a few guys on here with extra fences they'll let go cheap. For all I know, I might have one (reall...

starters
You will be getting great info from really knowledgeable guys very soon I suspect. In the meantime, I will state the obvious and say to NOT run the motor again until you get some guidance on checking it out and diagnosing (as well as curing) the problem. In the meanwhile, you might inventory the par...

Yep, buy it
For $30 bucks you would at least have the basic stuff to build a bench to suit you if you couldn't rehab that one enough. Don't see how you can get hurt for that little money if the top is solid and the vise parts are all there.

alternative
What about buying some veneers and laying up a laminated piece to fit the bill? Just thinking outloud.
