Re: Where did you get your shopsmith?

Bought my First one in Montreal in 87 or 88, I saw in in a woodworking show that was in town and I was so amazed I knew that I needed to buy one and did so at the SS store in town. The store closed a few years later and I had to get the other ones through craigslist or Kijiji. That was how I got all...

Re: Where do you go first for Shopsmith parts?

I found that living in Canada getting parts are a pain in the butt it is actually easier to go out and buy a second hand SS and part it out for what I need. SS in the States will not ship to Canada, I have to try and get it through 1 place in Toronto, and the mark up is horrible

Bed

Yes I used the bed hardware from Rockler, at first I hard a hard time figuring out which part went where so I made a mock up with some scrap material and then I got it. Once I put them on the rails and put it all together and put the locking screw in place it was a very good connection. Very secure ...

The 500 models are in pieces I use the 510 and 520 because I have limited space the powerstation is more effecient to me I think, I don't want to make a shorty. I actually want to donate the 500's in the future to either a school or some ambitious young person. Maybe I can hook someone else.

Powerstation

I have an opportunity to get a 510, bandsaw and powerstation for $1000. But since I already have 2 500's a 510 and a 520 and 2 bandsaws I really am not interested in those. The powerstation however, does interest me it also has the caster assembly. Problem is don't know what to offer him, I checked ...

Try it out on a scrap of material, you will see what I mean. Stain gets into th...
