New Shopsmith Upgrade--Double Tilt Base

Hello All: I see there is a current special, the Double Tilt Base, for only $289! BTW, this seems to be the regular price, or am I wrong? $289 is a lot of money. I'm interested in adding this tilt-either-way feature to my shop in connection with my planned purchase of the PowerPro headstock, but I'd...

Another Coupler Option

Hello all:

I just ran into a new coupler for sale on Ebay. Here's the link:

I've never seen these before.

Downside of short couplers

Hello all: I agree that the easiest way out is a spider coupler. I think you could save some 4' on each side of the headstock by using these instead of the Shopsmith coupler, so that should save Farley's too-short mini. No need to make offset mounts or replace the too-short tubes. I got Lovejoys fro...

The Downsides of Novaply

Joe: Years ago I built some three-shelf storage units to hold an LP record collection. Each unit therefore held a substantial load. I don't remember whether I used either 3/4-inch or 5/8-inch stock. I rabbeted the sides, top, and bottom to half the stock thickness, and had 3/8-inch dadoes also to re...

Hello:

Bill Mayo is right, it is a pulley cover, and a nice one! The new (and current) ones are just gray plastic.

The picture suggests that the current cover's hardware will fit your cover, Take a look at the current catalog.

Thanks

Hello all:

I see that I've been remiss. I asked a question a month ago about the second slot on the old 500 tables, but then never thanked JPG and Eastern Gray for their kind explanations.

Thanks, guys. I do appreciate your help.

John

Purpose of second slot on old 500 tables?

Hello all: I see an old Mark 500 table, carriage, and fence for sale on Ebay, and the ad and picture show the table has a second saw slot very near the headstock side, slightly smaller than the main slot in (more or less) the middle of the table. My old 500 from 1980 has only this latter slot. I'm w...
