My grandson is five and I have him "working" in my shop occasionally. I let him use a hammer and nails and my grandfather's tools. Egg beater drill and back saw. Only crude efforts but it is a start. Hand tools are very safe, I don't think you could accidentally cut off a finger with a han...

Mark VII lower guard

Has anyone tried (and had success) with using the model 500 lower guard on the old Mark VII? The later model guards are offset and the arbors interfere. Did you need to modify it? The originals are hard to find and I don't like my hand getting near the spinning blade when adjusting the speed. Plus I...

November 16th 2012 They split me down the middle and did three by passes. My story was rather similar. Chest pains that were so mild I thought I needed to belch to clear it. Fortunately I saw my doctor the next week. He thought it should be checked out mostly because my father had the "Big One&...

Mark VII and guards

A while ago I picked up a old Mark VII (with a good cam and most of the gear rack). I'm think about guards. Because of the the table size, I'm sure the upper guard form a 500 wouldn't fit (being too short). Unless someone here knows how to get around that? But I am thinking would the lower guard fro...

I got out of school early that day to prepare for a ROTC drill platoon competition the next day. So I was listening to the radio while I spit shined my shoes. The first day we were back at school I was part of the firing squad for the school's memorial service. Here is the kicker for younger people....

accelerating mark VII

There was an earlier thread that addressed part of your problem, the speed wanting to increase. The follower for the cam, that is the wrap around fork, can be installed one of two ways. One way is wrong and it causes the system to want to move to high speed. The one time I had mine apart I must have...

Please get in touch with me I am very interested in the item you call front. Believe it or not my gear rack is good. However I do not have the cam lever and parts to engage/engage the drive gears, so I leave it engaged all the time. Ed Friedl

I used to work at a place with a 7-1/2 HP Dewalt Radial Arm saw. We cut aluminum with it. The aluminum saw dust quickly ruined the solenoid brake that it came with. Without it the blade would coast for a long time. In the industrial market there are blade brakes that apply a tightly controlled DC ac...
