Since the notch is only 1/4" deep, you could use the same technique Nick used to make bandsawn finger joints in Sawdust Session #11: http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/SS_Archives/SS111/SS111_Band_Sawn_Finger_Joints.htm You could also use a coping saw if you don't have a bandsaw. Sincerely, Ron309...

There were some representatives from Ali Industries there promoting Shopsmith abrasives. I got a free sample! They actually said they were from Gator Grit. They brought the Mark 7 to offer as a prize. They didn't even set it up, it was still in the box.
