One other detail about the Shopsmith Mortiser that I didn't see mentioned: You need to support the table with something like a 2x4 between the table and the floor to help prevent deflection of the table when you mortise in the drill press mode.

That looks good to me too and since it works, you may not wish to mess with it. That said, most router table dust collection systems I have seen are from the back of the router fence. Any chance something like this would work for you and eliminate the hose sticking straight up?

The following plans seem to be a compromise between a track saw set-up (which I use) and a vertical panel saw. It appears to really be a vertical holding system with track saw. In any case, it might be worth the $5 to check it out.

I'm also a mineral oil person. But not the mineral oil you purchase at the local hardware store. I prefer using a "food safe" mineral oil. So I get mine at Tractors Supply. Works like a charm and doesn't spoil. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/ideal-animal-health-mineral-oil-light-1-g...

In my humble opinion, here are a couple of the best ways to get to know your Jointer (other than actually using it :D ):

I'm sorry to tell you that what you are missing is more than just a "bolt." It is an assembly of parts to clamp the round arm to the base. And the really bad news is that it is not stocked by Shopsmith (I know, I checked when I needed one). My solution is to make up my own based on the fol...
