Re: homemade arbors
I found 304 Stainless Steel Tube/Pipe with a 5/8" ID and 1" OD @ $33 per ft.. Would this work? I also found Cold-Rolled steel tube with a 1" OD and .188" walls @$10 per ft. which yields an ID of .644 vs. .625" is this close enough? Generally what kind of steel should I be lo...

Does anyone know if someone makes a Morse Taper adapter for the Drive End of the Shopsmith. Rich What are you looking to do with it? There are a lot of adapters available and there are people that will make you custom ones. A Morse Taper one would need to be very large and it would not have the hol...

I'm told that the cardboard box was intact. I hope that the Shopsmith can handle at least as much heat as cardboard. Time will tell... Cardboard burns at 451F, electronic circuits don't do well at 212F unless they are mil. spec and even then I don't know many that will stank up to 400F. Have you ev...

I will repeat what I said 2 years ago, the only way to go it the PowerPro because with the extra voltage you do get significantly more power and it still runs on 120 if you need it to.

I would agree re the speed increasor, but not the speed reducer. The speed increaser has a top speed limit(attained with a stock Mark 5/V that is equaled by the power pro). The speed reducer does not have a minimum speed limit. Unless you are winding coils reducing the minimum speed from 250 to 35 ...

As I have said many times here before, let's see how things look in 4 years. I have a feeling things will look much better. I suggested the stock market was going to break 14,000 sometime this year, which is an indicator of the health of businesses. I would have never guessed that it would hit 15,0...

I'll agree with all of that. My concern is when any family has to choose between getting destroyed by an illness vs. getting destroyed by medical bills. The current system works well for a lot of people, but it also doesn't work for a lot of people who have done exactly what they were supposed to. ...
