Re: 84 yr. old Delta Scroll Saw
Do not think a motor always runs at a specific speed. Basically you are giving me Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, which seems to govern most of life. We mortals think we have a number, but it often "slips". Thanks JPG. I am glad the old beast runs, and I wasn't worried about 25 RPM on...

Re: 84 yr. old Delta Scroll Saw
1750 rpm is not 'odd ball'. ;) Excellent approach on restoring. Keep those wicks saturated!!! Most everything I have ever encountered is 1725. In fact in the booklet it calls for a 1725 rpm motor and a Delta pulley No. 5400, which I need to check out. Says that gives it the proper speed at the blad...

84 yr. old Delta Scroll Saw Part 2
The stand was wired with a switch, plug and wire from another era. I replaced it all with grounded wire. I loved the old switch, but it had to go. The rear wheels were solid rubber. I spun them on my lathe and trued them up and buffed a shine on them. They look new. I also put new rubber paws on the...

Since this winter I have been buying old tools from a women who has been liquidating her deceased husband's shop. When I first laid eyes on this Delta 24" Scroll Saw, I knew I had to have it. It had been in her husband's family since it was purchased new, and obviously cared for since it still ...

Re: Need ideas for what to do with redwood slice
I have a friend in AZ who recently made a coffee table out of a slab that appears to be larger than yours. His too was end grain. When finished the end grain really made the project. That said, no two are alike. As to a cutting board, I would think Redwood too soft for that purpose.

Re: Finishing the 119th Tontine Cabinet
Thanks krusty! And to all the other kind comments, especially the vets, of the previous build posts, thank you. I could not have built this project (as easily) without my Shopsmiths, which is one reason for posting here.
