The speed changer has a pulley system where the center part 'floats'. Vis-a-vis Steve's PDF file, the only important dimensions are the ring thickness and the free (inside) diameter. The other dimensions are inconsequential for use on the speed changer.

The shims are placed against the SIDES of the tubes. The tube clamp exerts outward pressure to the tubes.
