Re: Router for Pin Router?

I use a Makita 1101, but that's because it was already in my toolbox. That has plenty of power for what I do.
I don't see that it makes much difference as long as the motor fits tightly.

Re: Problem with conical disc sander

I appreciate the help and suggestions from all of you. I did use a square to align the table to the disc, and I did happen to have a floating table attached. I still believe that Dusty was correct; I was trying to use the disc to dimension the wood, and using quite a bit of force on the board. Fines...

Re: Problem with conical disc sander

Maybe that is it, Dusty, because I was trying to remove the 1/8 inch of chipped wood using multiple passes at 150 grit. I need to buy another conical disc when they next have a special, maybe 2, so I don't force things. I set the disc square to the table, but was a little higher than midline; sandpa...

Problem with conical disc sander

I'm trying to join boards for a table top. Through the jointer, they line up perfectly, except the wood is figured along the line, and it chipped out. Decided to use the conical disc sander. Lined it up perfectly square with the table. Ran the board thru, and then it was slightly convex. Went back t...

You are all obviously more advanced at ww than I am. I have never taken a woodworking class, and I find George Vondriska to be a great teacher. I joined wwgoa before they offered all of those money saving deals over the holidays, but my deal did include 7 DVD's called "Great Shop Tips." I ...

my experience

I purchased a Mark V in 1981, and grew to love it. I never bought any upgrades. When I saw that our Lowe's was having a Shopsmith demo last year, I went with the intention of finally getting some upgrades. I too found what I wanted approached the cost of a new Mark 7, and so I went for it. I took th...

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think that I was a pariah, but now believe that no one uses their miter express for bevel cuts.

Yes, I see how I would need to make new panels if/when I get into that.

I have it going now; what a pleasure to make accurate miters.

Looks very much like the Flicker house I built, and is now the domain of a squirrel.
