Beginning Basics I Class Description
This is an introductory class that is ideal for the new Shopsmith owner, or for those who have not used their Shopsmith tools in awhile. This is our most popular class and often fills up early. Register Today! There will be SPECIAL OFFERS and discounts only available through these classes.

You Will Learn:

  • Learn safe and accurate ways to use the table saw, jointer, band saw, drill press, dado, molder, lathe, and many more.
  • Alignment, maintenance, efficient tool changes, basic lathe concepts, safety, and much more.
  • Valuable tips and tricks of the trade will be taught from our friendly Master Woodworkers, and see tools and techniques only shown here.

Basics II Class Description
This class builds on the skills you have learned in Beginning Basics I, and is for all skill levels. This NEW class is a result of owner's requests for more classes - a great way to increase your skills and knowledge.

You Will Learn:

  • The techniques and tools you will need to advance your woodworking to the next level.
  • How to join your projects together for beauty and strength, including tips on gluing and clamping.
  • Secrets of marking and layout and measuring that will improve all of your projects.
  • Fundamentals of the thickness planer, and the router table.
  • You will learn to make many types of joints, including the rabbet, dado, dovetail, finger, mortise and tenon, dowel, laps, and more.
  • You will use the table saw, jointer, thickness planer, biscuit joiner, belt sander, plug cutters, router table and fences.
  • Learn from friendly, knowledgeable professional instructors.

Beginning Lathe Class Description
This class is for those who love the idea of turning beautiful objects, but have little or no experience. We will show you how safe, fun, and easy turning can be with just one day's instruction. Our instructor's tell us this is their favorite class.

  • In this class we will use both spindle and bowl chisels, special chucks, and speed reducer, universal tool rest, sharpening guide, and more.
  • We will show you how to sharpen your chisels the quickest way to better results.
