Aligning Stock for Crosscuts

Although sliding tables do much to improve the ease and accuracy of cross cuts, they have one drawback. If you mark your cut where you can see it on the surface of the stock, you can't get the wood close enough to the blade to precise align the stock for the cut. This old machinist’s trick helps you get around this problem and insures a perfect cut every time.
