I wish I had one of these a long time ago. Found it easy to apply the scales and installing it on my Mark V. It's made from a chunk of solid steel, machined well. Not a cheap pot metal. My only negative is that it should already come with the scale included and installed. You're going to need the scale anyway so why have to pay extra for it? I bought the collar when I was going to be cutting a bunch of dados. Living 10 minutes from Shopsmith here in Dayton, I got it pronto. I keep the collar loose when not in use. I find no interference with the table or anything else when moving to drill press mode. All in all, a great accessory everyone should have.

The Good: This is a very well made accessory. Good and solid. I didn't have any problem getting the scales on correctly, and I can't see why anyone who is a woodworker being around machinery and hand tools should have any problem. This enables me to make very accurate dado cuts as well as saw cuts. A great accessory I wish I had had long ago. The Not So Good: I can't see why the scales shouldn't be included and already installed on the collar. You shouldn't have to pay $11.00 extra for something you should already get.

The collars are built well. The yellow tape is hard to get in position, and make it stick, the edges don't seem to stay glued down making it very annoying, when in drill press mode the collars interfere with table getting to zero adjustment. Making it necessary to spin collar all the way off so table can be lowered to zero setting.

It does exactly what it says, and it is built like you would expect from Shopsmith. Sturdy, solid, well-machined. I purchased the yellow scale as well, which was easy to apply to the collar. I found I could make fine table height adjustments that simplified cutting tenons for bars in a pair of double-action gate doors. Note: When kept just up underneath the worktable trunnion it will restrict table tilt and if kept lower down it will limit worktable retraction toward the carriage. Thus it must be before switchover to vertical tool modes. I may purchase another so that I can adjust both worktable and fixed extension table together.

I wish I had gotten one of these a long time ago. All my frustrations in trying to make small, accurate adjustments in table height have disappeared. Great item.
