Premier-quality Lathe Live Center features precision ball bearing construction for friction-free tip rotation without the need for beeswax or similar lubricants. As a result, your workpiece will turn more smoothly and quietly without the fear of unsightly burning, which, under certain circumstances, can allow your non-bearing Cup Center to loosen its grip on your stock and effect the accuracy of your cuts. Its #2 Morse taper shaft slips easily into your MARK’s Lathe Tailstock.

Lathe Live Center Provides for Smooth, Friction-free Turning without Messy Lubricants (505602)

Lathe Live Center is made of steel with a sealed ball bearing and a replaceable Center Pin. It has a 1-1/2” diameter head at the bearing and is 4” long with a #2 Morse Taper shaft. IMPORTANT: This Live Center plus the Live Center Extension are required when using Shopsmith Lathe Duplicator (555638).

Live Center Extension (514704)
The Steel Live Center Extension is used in both the Lathe and the Lathe Duplicator. It makes the Live Center longer for alignment purposes, for short turnings and to support deep bowl turnings. This extension threads in the Live Center between the ball bearing head and Morse Taper shaft. Either one or two extensions can be used in the Live Center.

Live Center Extension is ¾” diameter and 1-1/2” long with male threads on end and female threads on the other end.

Note: No more than two Live Center Extensions can be used together in the Live Center. Live Center Extensions are not to be used in Heavy turnings over 10” diameter.

Lathe Center Pin (501430)
Lathe Center Pin Acts as a Replacement Part for Damaged Pins for the Lathe Drive Center, Lathe Cup Center & Lathe Live Center. Replacement Lathe Center Pins are available for these Centers in case you accidentally drop one on a hard shop floor and bend the Pin. We suggest that you order one with your Live Center to avoid “down time”. To replace, simply grip the Lathe Center Pin with a pair of pliers and pull it out. If it doesn’t remove easily, grasp the outer bearing race, unscrew the Morse Taper shaft, then use a punch to remove the damaged Pin. Apply a liquid thread locker to the threaded shaft and re-install. Install the new Lathe Center Pin, place a piece of wood over the tip and tap it with a mallet.

The Lathe Center Pin is made of steel with ¼” OD x ¾” long with a locking taper on one end and a needle-point on the other end.

Lathe Screw Center is 1-1/2” diameter and 1-1/2” long with a 5/8” diameter ID and a #14 x 1-1/2” long, steel, Flat Head Wood Screw. It attaches to the Quill with a single 5/16-18 set screw.
