Jointer
- Information
The
Jointer is a “must” tool if you’re planning to build any type of
project requiring professional-looking , tight joints.
An
excellent example of the need for precision joinery comes from the
fact that most furniture and cabinetry is made of wide panels that
are glued-up from narrower boards - for two reasons. First, glued-up
panels are less likely to warp than wide, single panels…and secondly,
the first growth sources of wide boards are long gone, so your chances
of finding boards over 12-inches or 15-inches wide are very slim.
The
Jointer ‘s high-speed knives can swiftly shave a perfect 90-degree
edge so you can achieve the nearly invisible glue lines you seek.
and make easy work of creating perfect wide panels.
But
the Jointer’s applications go even further. You can also use it
to create rabbets, make tapered legs for tables or form the tongues
for tongue-and-groove joints. Just tilt the Fence and you can create
octagonal columns or posts; remove the sharp corners of lathe stock
before turning; bevel or chamfer workpiece edges and lots more.
It’s also the ideal tool for squaring large stock, such as 4-inch
x 4-inch fence posts. Just run one side through the Jointer until
it’s flat and true. Then, cut the other three sides against Jointer
fence.
These
features make the Shopsmith Jointer safe and easy-to-use
Adjustable
FeatherGuard protects your fingers while it holds your workpiece
firmly against the fence surface, ensuring the trueness of every
cut.
Unique
blade leveling system offers individual blade leveling screws
that eliminate the need for match grinding all three blades to the
exact same size. Sharpen or replace as many blades as you like,
then adjust each blade individually.
Easy
depth-of-cut adjustments are made with a single, handy control
knob. Just give it a twist for micro adjustments that are easy-to-read
on the built-in scale.
Built-in
dust collection is provided via a convenient chute that connects
to a standard 2-1/2-inch vacuum hose.
