A: 40-Tooth General Purpose Blade
Ideal for solid hard or soft woods and plywoods or composites of all types (plain or laminate-covered). This is a premier quality blade and a true Jack-Of-All-Trades that will rip, crosscut, miter or bevel-cut as good as…or even better than…many blades costing up to twice as much !
It features a massive,102” thick tool steel plate (.134” kerf) with expansion slots to dissipate heat and prevent twisting or warpage…and special copper plugs that reduce the turbulent noise.
The forty D-10 carbide teeth are precision Alternate Top Bevel-ground to a steep angle, then computer-verified to deliver crisp, clean cuts across or with the grain with minimal runout. It’s specially configured to yield a virtually effortless feed. This is clearly the perfect single blade choice for furniture or cabinet making and general purpose work. B: 50-Tooth Combination Blade
Here’s a great choice for furniture-makers who are crosscutting, ripping, mitering or beveling solid hard or soft woods. Although it will produce a fine cut on the composites (plain or laminate-covered) used in cabinet-making, some chipping may be present, which is NOT the case with the 40-tooth blade above.
This 50-tooth Blade features a .095” thick steel plate and delivers a .135” kerf. Its carbide-tipped teeth are configured in groupings of five with a flat-topped tooth, followed by four Alternate Top Bevel-Ground teeth and large gullets at the
raker teeth that allow you to make deep cuts in solid woods with superior chip ejection and less effort. View Tooth Configuration
C: Plastics Blade
Since there appears to be an increasing interest in cutting some of today’s conventional and exotic plastics, Shopsmith has decided to add a plastics blade to our offering…and this Blade emerged as the clear winner in our recent tests.
It produces a narrow,.100” kerf and has 80 carbide-tipped teeth with a special Triple-Chip grind that features an alternating flat raker tooth, followed by a slightly higher trapeze tooth to produce glass-smooth cuts that will make you say WOW !
We tested this blade on thin and thick ABS, styrene, acrylic, polycarbonate and laminate sheet. Whether hard or soft…round or square…this blade cut them all and ALWAYS left super-smooth edges without chipping or melting. It even worked great on laminate-covered composites of all types.
