The convex,
Conical Sanding Disc offers a unique 4-degrees tapered, cone-like
shape that allows it to perform edge grain and end grain sanding
functions with swirl-free results that are nothing short of
amazing!
By tilting your MARK V’s worktable to the same 4-degree angle
as the Disc’s surface, a situation is created whereby all
the abrasive materials in the narrow, vertical band that’s
in contact with the stock are moving in a direction running
parallel with the motion of the stock as you push it past
the Disc. You have to see it in action and the results
it produces to believe it!
You’ll get a smooth, swirl-free surface every time when edge
sanding solid or plywoods, sanding end grains (use your Miter
Gauge as a guide), surface sanding stock up to 4-inches wide
and even sanding highly figured or “curly” woods that are
next to impossible to plane.
The use of dust-collection is highly recommended to ensure
a clean, healthy shop. MARK V 510/520 owners can use
the lower saw guard for dust collection, while MARK V 500
owners can use the Disc Sander
Dust Chute (555167).
