Belt
Sander - Information
The
stationery Belt Sander will remove stock more quickly and with far
greater ease and precision than any other abrasive machine.
For
rapid stock removal, simply sand across the grain. When you need
true 90-degree edges or corners, just position the work table along
the side of the belt and use it as a precision Rip Fence guide.
Thanks
to its straight-line cutting action, you can switch to fine grit
belts and produce workpiece edges or surfaces that are super-smooth
and straight as an arrow.
This
is the ideal tool for smoothing narrow or wide board surfaces or
edges; removing mill marks from sawn stock; sanding bevels, miters
and other cuts where angles or final sizing may be critical; contour
sanding odd-shaped workpieces; sanding protruding joinery flush
with workpiece edges or surfaces; sanding small or odd-shaped parts
that are difficult to hold for sanding with hand-held power sanders;
and lots more.
Special
features provide added Belt Sanding convenience and precision
6-inch
x 9-inch Support Table tilts and locks into position to control
angles and act as a back-up for certain operations. Use it across
the belt, parallel to it on either side or at any angle for support
when surfacing or edging stock. Your MARK V’s Miter Gauge can also
be used with the Belt Sander, as can our Sharpening Guide (555204).
Automatic
belt tensioning and tracking -- Just twist the Tensioning Knob
until it clicks to release the tension for belt changes. Then, depress
the knob release lever and everything snaps back to “normal”, automatically.
No tension settings required. Special high-crown drum makes tracking
a snap.
Dust
Collection Hook-Up -- Attaches to the Shopsmith DC3300 Dust
Collection System with a 2-1/2-inches hose for dust-free sanding.
Free-running
belt on back side has no support platen, making it ideal for
sanding odd-shaped (convex) project components.
Auxiliary
Power Shaft extends from the drive roller for added versatility!
Accepts the Shopsmith Drum Sander (505552). Or, use your MARK V’s
Drill Chuck to hold any of our small diameter Drum Sanders.
